Welcome to the second post on our new SPH blog. In this edition I would like to share my thoughts on our hair care brand, Tigi, who provide the salon’s retail and colour. Last year I won a place on the prestigious Tigi ‘inspirational youth’ training program. My experience with Inspirational youth was an unforgettable one. The knowledge I gained meant I could bring all the creativity and new techniques I’d learned back to the salon and inspire my team.
One of my favorite aspects of the training was the lessons we had in stage presence and public speaking, delivered by Mike Esa. I was so lucky to get one on one coaching from Mike. When I got the opportunity to present my work live on stage at Salon international last year I honestly went onto the stage full of confidence and highly motivated to do a great job. There were lots of photographers and TV cameras on me, not to mention the 500 people who had paid to watch the show and I felt really comfortable on the stage, something I would not have imagined six months earlier.
Whilst I was there I made some great friends and was taught by some of the most talented hairdressers from around the world. We were also put up in luxury London Hotels every time we had to go down to London for training, usually 2-3 days a month, which was a fantastic experience, this was all at Tigi’s expense and I cannot thank them enough for the opportunity they gave me and the massive influence their training has had on my career, making me a much more confident and skilled hairdresser.
I will certainly be encouraging all our stylists to enter every year and I am thrilled my colleague Abi has entered this year’s event. I really hope she gets through, she would be perfect for the event and I know she will take so much away from the experience.
The biggest difference between Tigi and the many previous retail and colour brands we have worked with is the level of support we get from them. In my experience so many other big companies are only interested in taking your money, however with Tigi we really feel like our business is valued. As well as inspirational youth they have helped us out whenever we have needed them in terms of education and training. As well as manufacturing what I strongly believe to be the best professional products on the market, they are passionate about making us better hairdressers and that’s why Samuel Peter Hairdressing are proud to support the Tigi Brand.
